Stansted Airport began life as a WW2 American air base ...
... and it was only in the late fifties and early sixties that it began to provide civil flights, mainly by charter airlines. Its first terminal building was a large Nisses hut!

By the time the great Great Britain Bus Timetable was in operation numerous Jetlink coach services provided links to many parts of the country, and trains had arrived in 1991.
In the final edition of the GBBTT, two "local" bus routes are shown linking Chelmsford or Colchester with Stansted.
Today we have the X10 from Basildon and the X30 from Saarfend ...
... which combine from Chelmsford to Stansted.
Each service runs every hour ...
... giving a daytime bus every 30 minutes. At one time operated with coach-type vehicles (X30) ...
... recent workings have been handled with a mix of single and double decks in a popular-at-the-time (but boring!) grey livery ...
Now where have we seen that unflyable one-sided aircraft before?
So it was on Monday 17th February that the Great and the Good assembled to reveal the new "Essex Airlink" livery in a much more attractive blue.

The double decker is a new vehicle and looks very smart but without the extra hype of Norwich's nice new Excels ...

... is (Sh, don't tell the press or the passengers - they may not notice!) one of the grey and grey buses ...
... fettled up a bit! But, no matter, it looks SO much better in blue.
There's a better logo ...
... a plane that might be capable of flying ...
... and the latest Stenning style craze, a block of destinations betwixt the decks at the front! (Is Stansted an airport?)
And, if so, the X30 cops TWO airports on one route. Yay!
Not to be outdone, Abellio Greater Anglia are introducing new trains as well.
