Part 3 of the Shelton Lock blog is postponed for 24 hous due to pressures of other stuff. Normally fbb composes the leaflet for his duplicate Christian meetings on a Monday and Tuesday to begin distribution on the Wednesday. But Monday is now part-filled with a Church prayer meeting, so fbb tried to cram two days composing into one yesterday.
It didn't work. So insdequate brain was in functional mode for todays blog.
What the Sons Get Up To No 1
This is No 1 son in an important meeting (so he says) in a committee room in The House of Lords! The TV on the wall is telling you when the House will be "sitting". Shame, fbb would have expected a liveried flunkey complete with sword and posh lordly wig coming in to announce it in sonorous tones.
What is profoundly disturbing is that all the attendees are looking at No 1 son with rapt attention.
No 1 son thought that it might have been because he was the only one talking naturally "en plein air! ...
... whilst all the others were reading pre-prepared statements from their laptops!
What The Sons Get Up To No 3
No 3 son nipped over to Munich (Munchen) for a meeting (as you do) which started in the morning. So a flight the day before was necessary. This, in turn, meant that there was time to take a few pictures to amuse his old man. He spent a few precious moments at, in, outside or under Munich Hauptbahnhof.
He said it was all quite beyond his comprehension.
Clearly something is happening with Gleis 19 to 36!
So the lad has thrown out the challenge to his beloved papa to investigate and report back!
Talking of reporting back.
Singapore "Character" Open New Line
It is good to see the opening in the hands of a four eyed character numbered 8 rather han the usual bored looking men in dark suits. Singapore's metro is expansive and spectacular and the new line looks very sophisticated.
But, as usual, more extensions are planned.
More to investigate here!
But it is good to see expansion of the Metro network.
How is Crossrail 2 coming along in London?
Excitement At Axminster
Readers may be aware that Axminster station offers an hourly service to London Waterloo and, in the other direction, to Exeter. Big developments have recently beed instituted.
To cope with the crowds using the station (sometimes in double figures outside a peak flow of perhaps twice that, the platform has been "zoned". Both platfroms now have sticky labels attached, inventyrively numbered Zones 1 to 4. Here they are for our excitable blog readers to enjoy.
These are spaced out along the length of a six coach train, with one being helpfully placed near the front opening door which doesn't open!
There is no mention of the "zones" anywhere on the station!
First Gives Out The GoodiesFor the record these trinkets show First's THREE brands in the Somerset, Dorset and Hampshire bloc. No doubt thet are all available at the company's many travel offices.
fbb must try Bridport! Or Dorchester! No doubt the hut at Weymouth has been packed away for the winter?
SnippetNote how the tram and horse-drawn cart are unrealistically small to make the store look even more grand.
The building is still there, now a row of smaller shops, but it looks far less imposing in reality.
Fake news is far from new!"
Delayed Shelton Lock blog : Thursday 24th Nov
Free bus travel in Exeter for two weekends in December being imposed by the TC following poor reliability and early sanctions following an accident as reported by Route One: https://www.route-one.net/news/stagecoach-ordered-by-tc-to-run-free-services-in-exeter/
