Various Bits (three of several)

And A Splodge Of Parrot Food
This will make it easier to add the white paint and help seal the chalk face. Parrot Food? Polyfilla - of course! GROAN!!! And a real disused chalk quarry face to use as an example.

Tanks For The Warning!
A timely reminder for those railway enthusiasts and yard workers who may feel an irresistable need to climb up onto a train load of army tanks.
Not a good idea!

And why are they called "tanks"?
The first tanks were for built WW1 use in Lincoln by William Foster & Co. To keep the project secret they was known during their development as 'Water Carriers for Mesopotamia'.

Hence "tanks".

How It Was In The Good Old Days
Sometimes it is the oddities that prove the quality of a magazine; this comes from the current edition of  Modern Railways.
The booklet, dated 1957, was to expound on the regulations for operating Royal Trains complete with their "secret" code names.

This passage is amusing, unacceptable to the modern age, but shows how it was back than.

At all level crossings where male crossing keepers are stationed, the man in charge must be on duty, and at all level crossings which are in the charge of women, a competent male must be employed 30 minutes before the special train is due to pass, and remain until ten minutes after it has passed.

Misogyny rules O.K!

And So To Vancouver
Surrey?

Did not your elderly expositor explain that he was taking you to Vancouver which is, unless some version of "the new geography" applies, in Canada.

Surrey is also a city in the province of British Columbia, Canada, located south of the Fraser River and north of the Canada–United States border.

O.K. we shall proceed.

Little Kitchen Academy is the first of its kind Montessori-inspired cooking academy for kids ages three through teen.
We are focused on providing a safe, inspiring, and empowering space for children to identify, develop, and refine their senses. Through joy, mindfulness, and learning we are creating a foundation for a healthy lifespan through responsible eating choices: from scratch to consumption.

Kit (Kathryn) and Dall (Dallard) Schindell from Vancouver were sojourned awhile in Sheffield and became good chums of the fbbs. They shared a wedding anniversary on 14th April. Sadly Dall has died but the two "girls" keep in touch via 'tinternet.

Kit sent this a day or two via Instagram.
What a superb idea. Here is West 10th Avenue Vancouver ...
... and here is number 3744.
A selection of pictures of the trolley/hybrid buses referred to in the Instagram ...
service 9
 service 14
 service 99
... with just one example of the old-style 9.
Also, if you are familiar with Vancouver, you may know that West 10th Avenue leads to the University Of British Columbia (UBC).
The "UBC Loop" is what fbb would call a bus station and modern pretentious local authorities would call an interchange.
Google Streetview shows the "loop" in transition depending on where you click. The old bus loop ...
... is replaced by something more snazzy.

Short Thought

So how does all this resurrection and salvation doodah fit in with today's Virus Crisis?

It is back to the prophet Habakkuk's challenge to God. "Why doesn't God DO something?"

And God's answer to Habakkuk was, in essence, "I am doing something, but you are not going to like it much."

Let us look again at the Covenant, the deal on offer from God.
How does our so-called "enlightened" society live up to what God expects from His people?

Give it some thought before answering.

Whilst pondering, consider an account of Jesus AFTER his resurrection.

Mary stood crying outside the tomb. While she was still crying, she bent over and looked in the tomb and saw two angels there dressed in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and the other at the feet. “Woman, why are you crying?” they asked her.

She answered, “They have taken my Lord away, and I do not know where they have put him!”

Then she turned around and saw Jesus standing there; but she did not know that it was Jesus. “Woman, why are you crying?” Jesus asked her. “Who is it that you are looking for?”

She thought he was the gardener, so she said to him, “If you took him away, sir, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

She turned toward him and said in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (This means “Teacher.”)
Eventual recognition; not anticipated, hardly delusional.
