Normal Service Will be Resumed [2]

Friday 24th July
---------------------------------------------------------
A personal note from the fbbs.
At 1300 on Wednesday, the police called to tell us that Neil, our No. 2 son (aged 38), had been shot dead in an incident in Los Angeles two weeks ago.  No 1 and No 3 sons joined us that evening at fbb towers and have been a great comfort. There is no easy way to cope with this; but for a day or so, blogging seems irrelevant.
---------------------------------------------------------
Tomorrow and Sunday fbb will publish a two-part public transport blog dedicated to No 2 son's memory.

fbb hopes to be up and running "normally" again from Monday, but there may be interruptions. Sometimes, activity does help; sometimes lethargy overwhelms!

God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.
 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
 Psalm 46

Thanks for messages of sympathy and prayer support already received.

  1. I've been meaning to write to you for happier reasons since I discovered your blog at the start of the year, and never got round to it, but since your announcement last night you have been in my thoughts and prayers, and will continue to be. Activity does help, for a time at any rate. God bless. JB.

  2. Oh dear God. That is simply appalling. You need to concentrate on family for now; as you say, blogging is no longer of importance.
I'm sure that I speak for all your readers when I say that we'll welcome your return, but only when YOU feel ready to resume.
I wish you and your family well at this terrible time.
    Matthew.

  3. What can one say, how can one understand what you and those around you are going through?

May the Everlasting Arms continue to up-hold you.

  4. Echo the comments of others. Truly terrible news. You need to focus on what's important and begin the process of even rationalising what's happened.

Thoughts with FBB and your family. You come back to us only when you're comfortable doing so. Take care

  5. I can't begin to understand what that must be like. But I can support you and the whole family in prayer, and trust that you will find comfort in friends, family and, above all, God who is with us in all circumstances even, perhaps especially, the bleakest.
    With every blessing, John

  6. My condolences. I am more of an agnostic, but as you have a greater faith than me I am sure God will help you through this.

  13. The words from Psalm 46 that you have chosen yourself are more appropriate than anything I can add. May they be true, and my thoughts and prayers for you at this time.

  16. That is just tragic FBB - no words can express the grief that this must have brought to you and your family. My thoughts are with you.

  17. I have never met you and probably never will, our connection being merely a shared interest in transport.
However,I do have3 children of my own ages 49,52,55 and as such I feel compelled to write to offer my sympathy and hope you are able to cope with this in your own way.
Please accept our love and prayers Ivor your loss,
    Roy Mills

  18. Just to echo the comments posted here. Tragic circumstances put into sharp perspective how meaningless our little gripes really are. Take a sabbatical FBB. We will all understand. May your faith provide you with the strength you need. Best wishes.
