Suffolk Subterranean Surprise (1)

What's Happening Along Country Lanes?

Along a country lane comes this - a substantial low loader with a big load; but not the biggest. Look closely and you will see that the load doesn't appear to reach to the top the rig's cab.

It is on it way here, a former farm to the west of the Suffolk village of Thorpe Morieux.

On maps the farm is called Mount Farm ...
... and it lies just off the main A134 that runs from Sudbury to Bury St Edmunds. Chambers 753 serves that road ...
... with a bus every hour with variations at peaks and school times.
Traveline does not list a stop at the distinctive Water Tower ...
... but ideally you would alight there ...
... and walk to the farm ...

... but it now trades as ...
... Apple Mount Retreat.

Now as a committed and active Christian (active? at 79? well, active in Faith if not physically!) is not attracted to "new age" type retreat complete with candles, pebbles and massages. For fbb, God does a much better job.

But the facilities and options are wide ranging ...

... including some of this - whatever it is.
There is some of this ...
... and one of these.
Accommodation is in posh "pods" ...
... at a relatively posh price.
fbb alway wonders where the prices go "to" if they are shown as "from".  But, even if you do not indulge in the "treatments" (extra charges apply), the site and setting look great.
But that lorry is bringing a significant development to Apple Mount.

And it needs careful measurement!

This story will conclude tomorrow - in the meantime here are the answers to the THIRD set of Bank Holiday Quiz Questions.

This is the Quadrant bus station at Swansea.

Ashford International

East Yorkshire have jut started a new network of tendered services north on York and thus in North Yorkshire.

The control tower is for the new Silvertown Tunnel under the Thames.

They were called "Tavern" Cars. The interior was designed to look like a traditional oak-beamed pub; rather a narrow and cramped pub!

Lobitos was a UK oil company working in Peru.

This Very Light Rail vehicle is being developed at Dudley and there is a proposal, as yet unfunded, to open a network in Coventry.

It is called Chocolate Crumb and it is/was an early stage in the manufacture of Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate.

A recently announced OO model of a "fireless" steam loco. These were used where fire might be dangerous, e.g. a gunpowder factory.  The "boiler" was a tank that was filled with steam from a facility well away from the dangerous area.

Tracy Brabin, seen above in Coronation Street (it's a television "soap" your honour!) is the Metro Mayor of West Yorkshire.

The station is Birkbeck, served by National Rail and the Croydon Tram. Birkbeck College is part of the University of London.

PLEASE NOTE
fbb and his delightful Mrs had their Covid booster on Tuesday afternoon. Although neither of the "oldies" had a serious reaction to the jab, both felt utterly exhausted yesterday.
The above picture is NOT of the fbbs, but it does explain their sad state for most of yesterday!

Today's posting has been split into two sections so the fbbs could have an early night!

Part 2 tomorrow.

Looking very closely at your blurry picture, and taking the hint about the height of the object, I worked out what it. It looks absolutely amazing!

Strangely enough I lived in Suffolk for 11 years but I'd never heard of Thorpe Morieux. That part of the country is fairly "hidden" and surpisingly hilly.
