This road is an important regional link as it links West Surrey (and wider with relatively easy roadlinks from the A3 & M3) to the main roads to the Sussex coast whilst avoiding the M25 (as there are almost no urban areas once you are out of Guildford there are rarely hold-ups) so much of the car flow is not local and so not potential business for a bus service like the X1. All the Gold routes I can think of have much stronger intermediate flows and all have been built on long established routes that have been worked on for years (the point of the Gold branding is to give an extra kick to an established route where growth is plateauing short of demand being sufficient for a frequency uplift).dwarfer1979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-17871704879029045222017-11-24T19:34:45.390+00:002017-11-24T19:34:45.390+00:00Arriva should really start treating the X1 serious...Arriva should really start treating the X1 seriously and give it at least an hourly daily service, if not half-hourly during daytimes. Otherwise it'll never be attractive enough and always look like a token service. The least busy part of the A281 that it runs along still averages over 6,000 cars per day - elsewhere that volume of traffic can support a frequent Stagecoach Gold service.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-65922837711229432082017-11-24T09:32:40.479+00:002017-11-24T09:32:40.479+00:00You might be interested to note, this is Arrivas s...You might be interested to note, this is Arrivas second recent attempt at faster services on the Guildford to Horsham corridor. They introduced a 63X probably about 2 years ago now, which was sort of half way between the 63 and X1. It lasted about 6 months before being cut back and about 6 months later they tried the X1.

From my experience on the X1, I can confirm minibuses are probably a good fit for the number of people.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
