It then morphed in to the 63 for a while out of Leadmill using MetrobusesAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-59716317547923843472019-07-30T11:11:47.135+01:002019-07-30T11:11:47.135+01:00It was, indeed, 1954; it ran from the now-vanished...It was, indeed, 1954; it ran from the now-vanished Royal Hospital on West Street via the City Centre, at first though this bit was soon dropped. Briefly around 1992 the 31 disappeared into an extension of 63 from Birley across the City Centre, and this was d/d operated. That didn't last long either, but (from my one trip on it) was great fun while it did!Dennis Dratnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-4759441693130177172019-07-30T09:41:15.918+01:002019-07-30T09:41:15.918+01:00I think you will find that service 31 started in 1...I think you will find that service 31 started in 1954 rather than 1945. I may be able to find something to confirm that and if so will elaborate later. To me it seemed particularly odd that Parkwood Springs went for so many years without a bus service - it was a very isolated community.RLThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15626240025799743043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-49734420450464528582019-07-30T07:56:29.314+01:002019-07-30T07:56:29.314+01:00For real bus excitement you should try Lisbon'...For real bus excitement you should try Lisbon's route 37 to the Castle/ This "modern" photo was taken in 1987: when I knew it a few years earlier it was still operated by ancient AEC Regals. The route still runs, to an enhanced frequency, but the buses are sensibly smaller! https://tinyurl.com/y5m9ytupAndrew Kleissnernoreply@blogger.com
