Nowadays our "flagman" will find a suitably located lamp post or road sign for a temporary flag and shin up his ladder. He will also post a notice at the usual stop to explain the location of the alternative, of course.

No matter how many signs we put up people don't read them. The classic I recall is 2 older ladies standing at a clearly closed stop, waiting for their bus. Our Monitoring Officer had to shout at them to advise them the stop was closed as they couldn't otherwise hear her above the din of the machine that rips up the road surface for re-surfacing which was crawling past the stop at the time!

All we need now is for contractors to start work when they say they will, stick to the location advised and then let us know when they've done....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-28940756248396446262020-06-30T08:17:25.457+01:002020-06-30T08:17:25.457+01:00This is a more general problem with temporary bus ...This is a more general problem with temporary bus stops, one of the reasons why operators often no longer offer any themselves. What generally happens is that the contractors of the roadworks load up everything including the temporary stop when they pack up so it, 'accidentally', becomes part of their kit wherever they are going next (often some distance from the branding on the stop), you regularly see TfL branded stops across the country. We used to have a few temporary stops at my company but they all vanished within a year and were never replaced as they are quite expensive.dwarfer1979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-66595822008350818082020-06-30T08:15:37.563+01:002020-06-30T08:15:37.563+01:00It won't be TSY. It'll be some overly efficient contractor who will have swept it up (accidentally?) when it was located near to their set of roadworks, and so it gets transplanted in future to other non South Yorkshire locations.

That said, this blog has long descended into FBB (and his mate Roy) just slagging off TSY.

That and a constant complaint about things being wrong on the internet.

At the top of the page, our blogger says "Daily blogging is "the norm" and will continue until fbb runs out of ideas!" - with the continued return to slagging off TSY, it seems that fbb has indeed run out of ideas.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-84679898324826959752020-06-30T08:09:06.245+01:002020-06-30T08:09:06.245+01:00As pointed out yesterday, the tram replacement bu...As pointed out yesterday, the tram replacement bus map is with all the other rail replacement information here
https://travelsouthyorkshire.com/en-gb/newsupdates/rail-replacementAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-7157153261468291112020-06-30T07:43:06.295+01:002020-06-30T07:43:06.295+01:00SYT stops like this appear in Leeds quite often, I...SYT stops like this appear in Leeds quite often, I think one of the contractors puts them out when they dig holes!
