The fuel savings would give a pay back over about 7 years but the batteries will probably need replacing in 6 years which means that at current fuel prices a hybrid will be cost neutral. So long term prospects require either continued government funding, an bit of an increase in fuel prices, a reduction in the cost of the vehicles due to volume production or improvements in battery life (or at least a combination of the last three).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-31608936684811557112013-04-16T22:21:03.813+01:002013-04-16T22:21:03.813+01:00"The hybrid buses – powered by electricity an..."The hybrid buses – powered by electricity and diesel... "

Unless these vehicles are plug-in hybrids (and I don't think they are) this statement is somewhat misleading. As far as I am aware, all of the electricity that they use is generated by the diesel engine. The use of the word 'and' is not strictly correct.RC169https://www.blogger.com/profile/03921368833118123055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-85821364400774652022013-04-16T11:05:32.807+01:002013-04-16T11:05:32.807+01:00So it's not just me that thinks they're ug...So it's not just me that thinks they're ugly. What an ugly vehicle. While I think "ftr" was over-done, why not make it look at least a *bit* nice? Interior looked pleasant though.

2. As they aren't Mercs, the branding looks a bit silly, they should have changed it. The whole point of the "7 series" branding was a reference to a chauffeur-driven Mercedes and the quality associated with it.

3. 1980s-style flashes indicating that it's an electric hybrid look bloody stupid.

Another typical First half-job, IMO.

Neil
Neilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11739094192244593533noreply@blogger.com
