I have just been correcting a couple on a map in one of our timetables about to be reprinted that covers the city network where the Head Office is, I live and on a route I use occasionally and the previous version was checked by the local depot manager & about 3 other members of the commercial/marketing team all of whom live locally and all of whom missed the spelling mistake. You have the problem that people don't normally really read what they are looking at and as long as the words resemble the correct spelling and largely have the right letters we read it correctly so missing the error (and a for e or missing a letter that doesn't alter the shape of the word would have this issue). You also have the issue of people thinking they know how to spell a place name but actually being wrong and if you are local you are less likely to check if you always use the incorrect spelling yourself. These things happen, it's not particularly associated with contracted out mapping or no checking by a localdwarfer1979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-10978321392017146672014-01-30T08:40:20.176+00:002014-01-30T08:40:20.176+00:00Thank you for your excellent articles re your visi...Thank you for your excellent articles re your visit to Bradford, though may I extend my sympathies to you for the reason the visit had to be made.

Concerning the Interchange and being prevented from leaving the inner confines of the bus station until the bus has arrived on the stand, a similar system applies in Huddersfield bus station, where the doors cannot be opened until the bus triggers a pressure pad outside - though I doubt I'd want to be on the apron with up to five or six buses reversing at the same time, plus others trying to get in!

And you're right about the Information screens! Metro West Yorkshire's are certainly not "real time" I've sat in Halifax bus station and watched services being announced to Hebden Bridge, Todmorden, etc., even when the road was flooded at impassable at Mytholmroyd!

As it is a good article, I'm loathe to nit-pick, but,as far as I know, Arriva does not now operate any services from Huddersfield to Bradford [except perhaps now in the guise of "Yorkshire Tiger"], as I think your following photograph shows you know.Stuart Samuelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01638923842332251803noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-91055683889652602232014-01-30T08:34:48.074+00:002014-01-30T08:34:48.074+00:00Welcome back, Busing!Welcome back, Busing!fatbusblokehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06833340546527596517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-6269111105741219962014-01-30T07:48:57.602+00:002014-01-30T07:48:57.602+00:00More on Somerset's Buses at OmnibusesMore on Somerset's Buses at OmnibusesBUSINGhttp://omnibuses.blogspot.com/noreply@blogger.com
