The latter class of folk, often have a passing understanding of how buses work, but fail to understand the real needs of passengers, especially when operations depart from 'the norm'.

This is, of course a generalisation. Much depends upon the calibre and dedication of the individuals themselves, whether they be bus or traffic light specialists.

Operators fail to get things right too, as regular readers of this blog will affirm.Petras409https://www.blogger.com/profile/04036674245734936601noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-63944900928100153062013-10-14T19:12:44.900+01:002013-10-14T19:12:44.900+01:00I can vouch for the fact that there are also '...I can vouch for the fact that there are also 'real time' information systems in Germany that sometimes display incorrect or misleading information! The problem is certainly not confined to the UK!RC169https://www.blogger.com/profile/03921368833118123055noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7432323264902617108.post-64031942092357999122013-10-13T09:11:11.106+01:002013-10-13T09:11:11.106+01:00Well, my home city (which is in Germany) has elect...Well, my home city (which is in Germany) has electronic departure screens on many tramway and bus stops. Usually they work and show the correct times for the correct lines. The same goes for many other places in Europe. But NOT the UK.

Therfore I conclude the problem is not technological but organizational. In other countries the departure screens are maintained by the organization (and the people) that run ths bus. Only the UK has the supreme (?) model of commercial bus operation, which demands that timetables have to be provided by a different organization.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
